The Terrace, Bainland Resorts, Lincoln

The terrace was designed as an extension of the new ‘Nest’ restaurant concept and so doesn’t follow ‘conventional’ garden design principles. It was important that we created an evolved scheme, that felt lived in… this meant that the provenance of the materials and finishes we chose needed to speak to the locality of the site and almost look like it had been developed over time, rather than a few months.

Within the space, we have created zones and areas that provide intimacy; you can sit around the fire with a glass of wine or lounge out on the open sun terrace while watching the kids play in the new play areas. Throughout the design process, our focus has been on creating an outdoor drinking and dining experience that fused with the surrounding landscape and its context. Most importantly, we have tried to provide a comfort and worn familiarity of space that still provides a feeling of retreat and sanctuary.
